             Tsaghats Kar Monk Ensemble 10-13 centuries The Tsaghats Kar church is situated 6km far from the Artabouink village. It is to the north –east of the village on the plateau.

       It consists of two groups of churches that are 200m far from each other. The main church of the west group is called St Astvatsatsin, which was built in the reign of Smbat Bagratouni, in the 10th century. The next church of the ensemble is St. Hovhannes, which was built with basalt rough hewed stones and mortar. There is a date engraved on the east niche of the church: ՆԼԸ (in 989). The inscription engraved on the west wall informs about the reconstruction of the church in 1222. St. Karapet The main church of Tsakhats Kar west group is called St. Karapet. It was built under the protection of Vardik priest in 1041. This charming domed monument is one of the best in Armenia. It was built with huge basalt polished stones. The tympanum stone of the only entrance to the south is decorated with carvings of grape and pomegranates. The frames of the eastern and western windows are distinguished with the perfection of their beautiful woven carvings. There is a carving at the east wall, which represents an eagle with open wings holding a lamb or a ram in its claws (This is a sign which means that the area belongs to Princes of Syunik). There is a sculpture on the upper side of the north wall representing another emblem. It shows the duel between the lion, ox or a bull. The carving is one of the hereditary emblems of the Vasakian branch representative in Vayots Dzor.

       The next construction of the ensemble is the two-stored St, Nshan burial vault church. On the ground store of the church there is the church which is rectangular-quadrilateral in the plan and horseshoe altar. The vestry is to the west side. On the first store one can see the small chapel. The west tympanum is decorated with beautiful twin cross stones. St. Nshanis the oldest building in Syunik, which is famous with its type. The cemetery dated from 10-17 centuries is located round the Tsaghats Kar ensemble. There are many cross stones and tombstones there.
